Leveraging these systems offers the promise of reducing cost and complexity for a solution. Of course, if the enterprise system or standard is challenging to work with, it can increase cost and complexity issues for a new solution.
By unifying some base structures of an organization’s IT systems, enterprise architects hope to reduce cost and complexity and increase time to market for new solutions for the business. Of course, the quality of enterprise architecture designs can vary greatly between organizations.
The architecture team must always comprehend the enterprise architectural environment as an important area potentially impacting the solution designed.
